Swimming Lessons

Addie started swimming lessons yesterday. She is doing really well. We have had a couple of meltdowns but for the most part but is doing much better than I expected! She is in a class with 4 and 5 year olds and she is holding her own! Yesterday when she was finished I told her I was so proud of her. She was so proud and told me over and over, "Mommy so proud of you!" Today she asked me, "Mommy so proud of you again?" I was!!!!

Trip to Dallas

Addie and I flew to Dallas last week and spent a week with Mavis, Aiden and Chuck. Addie loved the airplane and was so excited about going up high! She was great on the flight and very excited to watch Dora on "Daddy's pe poon." We had a great time in Dallas and it was funny to see Addie and Aiden interact. They have not spent a lot of time together since December! They loved playing chase and stealing each other's puppies. We think the puppy stealing is something we will be going through for many years! Aiden and Addie loved to argue about their mommies. We constantly heard, "That's my mommy...No that's my mommy...No my mommy Niki...no my Niki..." and on and on and on. We did a lot of swimming, playing and eating and we were sad to have to leave on Saturday. Babu, Grandpa, Kyle and Kiki spent time with us one afternoon and we had a great time with them as well! Thanks Mavis and Chuck for letting us invade your house for a week!
Lounging in Aiden's big girl bed, riding her horse, and eating yummy ice cream!
Fun in the sun!
Hanging out in the front yard, watching Dora, and eating popsicles!
"Daddy, here I come!"

Addie says her ABC's

I caught Addie saying her ABC's this morning and she caught me trying to film it. So I told her she could watch the video if she would say them for me...here is the result.

Weekend in San Antonio

We came to San Antonio this weekend with John, Donna, (Buck and Nanna) Alyssa and Ernesto. On Saturday, Buck, Ernesto and Bryan took Addie to Bass Pro Shop to look at the fish and the boats. We met them for lunch after their "trip" and they all looked a little beaten down...not to mention that Addie had a large plastic decoy duck???? I think she had a great time and she told her daddy that mommy lets her ride in the big part of the shopping basket instead of being buckled in....not necessarily the truth! Saturday afternoon, we went to Costco with Donna and while Bryan and I were looking at video cameras, Addie was throwing things into Donna's basket as fast as she could. We walked up and she was saying, "I want that...I want that." She did get a few Dora movies and a couple of books but we drew the line at the lambswool rug! We tried to explain to her that she can not always have everything she wants and some things she has to wait for....Addie didn't agree...but she did survive! On Sunday, we went to Sea World!!! We had a great time. We got there a little after 10 and left around 6. It was definitely a long day but Addie was thrilled to be there! We fed the dolphins and sea lions, saw alligators, turtles, penguins, sharks and puffins (muffins according to Addie). After lunch Bryan and I took her to the water park for the afternoon and she had a blast. We floated the lazy river, spent tons of time in the wave pool, and played in 2 squirt park areas. We were all exhausted by the time we left but I think everyone had a great time. It's hard to believe that next summer we will be pusing a double stroller around Sea World!!!

This morning Addie and I went to North Star Mall to pick something up and Addie was in awe of the mall! It is a little different than our mall in Del Rio! She kept calling it a fancy mall and was very excited to see the Great American Cookie Company...like mother like daughter! When we left she asked me, "Mommy fancy mall again soon?" Sorry Daddy but it looks like I have a shopping partner in crime!!!!

I have an appointment with Dr. Cox this afternoon and then Addie and I are off to Dallas tomorrow morning to stay with Mavis and Aiden for the rest of the week. Addie is very excited to fly in an airplane and even more excited about wearing her own seat belt. I made the mistake of mentioning it on Friday and she has not stopped asking me about flying since then...we have learned that with Addie you have to wait until the minute before you do anything fun to tell her or you will not hear the end of it. This is the last visit we will have before the four of us (Mavis, Aiden, Addie and me) become the six of us!

Addie update

Addie loves chasing me and Bryan around and especially loves for us to chase her. She will run up behind one of us and hit us from behind and say "get you mommy or get you daddy. She also loves to hide (she may even think she is hiding when she faces the opposite way in a chair)

She has been able to count to 14 in English for a while but thanks to Dora, she can now count to 11 in spanish. I wish I could get it on video but she does not perform for cameras. She also tells the ladies at the gym "adios" and "hasta manana" when we leave every day. **Update...I did get her counting to 7 on video..see below.

Out of the blue the other day, Addie told me, "Mommy my best friend." It was so cute. She says something new every day...sometimes good...sometimes something that make us cringe a little bit!

She has also turned into the seat belt police. She watches every person get into the car and makes sure they put their seat belt on. If not, she lets them know...."Daddy seat belt" over and over until they put it on. (Reminds me of a certain little brother of mine)

If you ask Addie where she lives she will tell you, "Del Rio, Texas." She also knows that G-ma, Grandpa, Poppy, Mimi , Mavis, Aiden, Kiki and Kyle live in Dallas.
Addie knows mine and Bryan's first names and uses them often. She also heard me say Donna the other day and has since been calling her Donna and knows that Buck's name is John. We think it is hilarious now...it may not be so cute when she is 10.

She is still very sweet with her babies and now before they go to sleep, she says their prayers with them. She packs a bag for her babies and puts them in her grocery cart to take them to school. School is in our backyard.

Addie has perfected her fake cry when she "hurts" herself or does not get what she wants. Unfortunately, her daddy buys it 9 times out of 10.

Yesterday, she and Bryan were playing in her room. I went in to see what was going on and her oversized Barney was wearing a pullup and her nightgown. I was told that Barney was taking a nap in Addie's bed.

We have had a fun and busy weekend. Friday afternoon, we went to the lake with John and Donna. Addie loved swimming in the lake and riding on the boat. We just got her some floaties and she thinks she can really swim. She is pretty good at floating on her stomach and kicking her feet to get where she wants to go. We stopped and ate dinner on the way home. After dinner Addie said, "Thanks for the dinner Buck." It is really nice and cute to see that she has some manners at 2 years of age!

Yesterday, she woke up from her nap asking for chocolate ice cream. Bryan and I never need an excuse to eat ice cream so we took her to Dairy Queen for her first chocolate dipped cone. She loved it...although it took her FOREVER to finish the cone. She had to lick it just like Dora does (according to Bryan...they watched an ice cream episode of Dora earlier in the day.)

This morning she started the Little Bug class at church. She has been in the nursery and now that she is 2, she moved to an actual class. She cried...as usual...but was happily playing when we picked her up. Her teacher said she only cried for a minute after we left. She drew a picture of something that God created...purple scribbles...and was thrilled to get a sticker when we left.

I am currently in my 30th week....starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I started cleaning out the spare bedroom this weekend and am hoping to get Addie out of her crib at the end of this month. This baby is a mover and is a big fan of flips...it still amazes me everytime I feel it moving around. This baby's heartbeat has been the exact rate Addie's was and I have gained the exact amount of weight as I did with Addie at this point. Some say that must mean it is another girl...although I now think I am carrying this one a little differently...only time will tell. Addie talks more and more about the baby and is always lifting up my shirt to see if the baby is sleeping.

We are off to swim at the Country Club!

6.2.09

Here are some pictures from our last couple of weeks!
Addie helping Daddy make pancakes....don't they look delicious?
Addie and her babies watching Dora. Addie says this makes her babies "so happy!"
Addie is about to jump into the lake with her Daddy.
We went to Port Aransas last weekend with my dad, Clare, and Kristin. The weather was beautiful and we had a great time. Addie is at the age where she is very easy to travel with and she loved all of the attention from Poppy, Mimi and Kiki. Addie loved the beach and the waves until some seaweed wrapped around her leg. That was the end of the beach for us. She did not want any more "grass" to touch her. She insisted on staying at the pool and when we did walk down to the beach she had to be on her daddy's shoulders. Mavis and Aiden were in town visiting Mavis' parents and came to spend the day with us on Saturday. Aiden LOVED the beach...so I spent most of my time with them while Addie and Bryan played in the pool. It was great to see them and we are really excited about our visit with them in a couple of weeks.
Addie and Poppy before the "grass" incident.

Addie spraying Kiki with a water gun.

Addie, Aiden and Bryan hanging out in the pool.
The last afternoon we were there, Addie got out of the pool, gathered her bucket of toys and got into her stroller. She said, "finished with pool Mommy." Addie definitely knows what she wants.
There was a play set at our condos and Addie had a blast playing on it. She climbed up a very tall set of stairs and slid down a "big girl" slide by herself. Most of you know that Addie is not the most daring child, so it was very surprising that she did not beg me to come and slide with her when she got to the top! Instead she said, "Addie slide self" and off she went. She was very proud of herself when she got to the bottom. One of her favorite sayings now is, "I'm a big girl now." It is so true...which is so sad to me!!! She can do so much by herself and she has grown up so much in the past 6 weeks. (Sorry the pictures are blurry...the humidity did not agree with my camera.)
Addie drinking my leftover cup of ranch dressing. Like father like daughter!!!

This morning Addie wanted to put my pajama pants on over her clothes. So I put them on and rolled them up and she loved it. She had to go and show Bryan and then proceeded to call herself a princess over and over. Not sure what kind of princess wears pajama pants...but they do in Addie's world!
